Exploring Dunedin

March 7, 2017: Dunedin, New Zealand

After cruising the wonderful Fiordland National Park, the cruise ship docked at Port Chalmers. It was our first dock after cruising for 3 days. Finally, I am about to set put on land. It got me excited i was one of the first to get out of the boat.

Admiring the Otago Peninsula

Port Chalmers is a small town. It's like you are in a setting of an old european film. You need to go through the main town when you go to Dunedin; where we are going to go. Our tour guide picked us up and we were off to explore.

Dunedin Train Station

Dunedin is in the Otago Region. I believe this region is where the first Maoris set foot. It is a beautiful city and this is where the first University was Built, Univeristy of Otago. We were told by our guide that Dunedin was patterned from a city in UK.

Their Train Station is really nice and well maintained. We also visited Baldwin Street which is said to be the Worlds Steepest Residential Street and had the chance to walk there. We saw the Cadbury Chocolate Factory. The Otago Peninsula was a wonderful scenery to look at. We also visited a private beach but was not able to swim because of the cool weather. I was told that the waters are coming from Antartica. Just imagine how cold that is. Finally, I stayed behind and explored The Octagon which is a popular shopping and restaurant district of Dunedin.

Downtown Dunedin

It was a daw well spent. We are able to see a lot. I love how peaceful the place is and it is surronded by spectacular scenery and very rich in history. I believe there's a lot more to explore in Dunedin and you would need more than a day to be able to see them.

I hope you enjoy the video I made. Looking forward to more travels soon.
